Our Mission_
To make it easier to add utility to NFT collections and build the infrastructure for an interconnected metaverse
buildwithNFTs was created so projects will have an quick way to refer to and understand the data design of the NFT collection they want to integrate into their web3 projects.
When projects integrate a new NFT collection, they need their metaverse or web3 application to show different sections or visuals based on what NFTs a user holds. To integrate them properly, developers need to know all the possible values of traits the NFTs inside the collection has so the can ensure their application can handle every scenario and edge case.
This is where buildwithNFTs comes in.

Permissionless integration_
By using NFTs instead of databases, it allows any application or metaverse to have access to the object / data without having to go through an API.
This allows permissionless integration into any application or metaverse which wants to support the NFT collection.
No gatekeepers or API deprecation_
Without NFTs, in order to have access to that object / data, it would be completely dependent on if and when the service decides to provide and maintain an API.
As the data is available on the blockchain, there would be no single service which can prevent access or provide wrong data.
Ownership, immutability, & transferability_
Currently, any digital object / data you "own" remains locked to an account in a centralized database (unless the service allows you a method to export / import data).
By using NFTs. it allows users to be able to transfer assets seamlessly across accounts even if they plan to use them for completely different purposes or on multiple different applications.

Our vision and prediction_
How we believe an interconnected metaverse will look like
And how NFTs and blockchains will enable us to get there.
Currently, the world works where each application, game, and website is silo-ed because their databases are separated.
This works well enough to allow applications to function within their own walled garden - but it also means that users can only use data and object strictly within that one application, outside which it becomes completely useless.An analogy:
The current web is built like a shoe shop where you can only wear the shoe you’ve bought within the store you bought it.
As NFTs, you will now be able to bring the shoes to different locations with different people for different purposes, provided they’ve integrated it (where buildwithNFTs web docs help).
An interconnected metaverse_
We believe the future of the metaverse will be connected using the blockchain as a global, trusted, permissionless database.
Platforms will be using a combination of silo-ed application-local databases and reading from the blockchain as a global database. They will also allow users to mint (write) specific entries onto the global blockchain (database) for other applications to access if they choose to do so.
There will also be hubs (metaverses) which derive their value from integrating as many collections and NFTs as possible. These become the driving force of why people will want to mint their items from the platforms onto the global blockchain (database).
Additionally, without the need for APIs, creators, media companies, and non-tech industries will also be able to participate in the creation of digital assets which can be integrated into the different metaverses.
